Sustainable and Safe: New Laboratory Fridges and Freezers

Jul 16 2021

The new Thermo Scientific TSG series of general-purpose laboratory refrigerators and freezers from Thermo Fisher Scientific combine dependable cold storage capabilities, low energy consumption, and reduced noise levels.

These laboratory refrigerators and freezers are designed to reliably keep general research and clinical materials secure, in temperature ranges that address both short- and long-term storage requirements, including those for COVID-19 vaccines.

With standard alarm features alerting users to temperature fluctuations, door-ajar incidents and power failures, the new systems provide simple operation and drive timely corrective actions to ensure that valuable materials remain safe at all times.

The TSG Series Refrigerators and Freezers consume significantly less energy and expel less heat than conventional systems. The systems also use eco-friendly F-Gas-compliant R290 hydrocarbon refrigerants, promoting a healthy environment both in and out of the laboratory. Furthermore, the systems offer whisper-quiet operation at less than 52 dbA, minimising disruption of the work environment.

"Maintaining optimal, consistent cold storage performance is of critical importance in research, clinical and industrial laboratories to preserve the viability of stored materials, as is the need to minimise energy consumption, heat output and noise levels to protect the environment and enable a pleasant workplace," said Drew Buskirk, Product Manager for Refrigerators and Freezers, Thermo Fisher Scientific. "The TSG Series Refrigerators and Freezers effectively meet these needs, in full alignment with our mission of helping our customers make the world healthier, cleaner and safer."

The refrigerators provide a temperature range of 2° to 10°C (5°C setpoint), while the freezers are suitable for use when storage at -12° to -25°C (-20°C setpoint) is required. Both the refrigerators and freezers are available in 400L, 700L and 1500L capacities. The refrigerators offer a choice of solid or glass single and double doors, whereas the freezers are available in solid single and double doors.

The systems are available with EU or UK electrical capabilities and come standard with a 12-month warranty and extended warranty options as well as optional preventative maintenance packages.
