Blood Temp 10 Temperature Breach Indicator - Improving critical decision making for blood bag reissue

Nov 14 2013

Blood re-issue compliance at the touch of a button!

Helapet are pleased to offer the Blood Temp 10 breach indicator as an auditable and convenient alternative for insitutions who rely on the “30 minute rule” for blood bag reissue.

Standard regulatory compliance requires blood to be maintained between +1°C and +10°C for each blood bag to be considered for reissue. The 30 minute rule provides simple guidance for allowing un-used blood bags to be returned to storage, but opens up the risk of needless discarding of bags which may not have breached the +10°C threshold.

Blood Temp 10 is designed to offer a simple, easy-to-use and accurate solution by monitoring the core temperature of the blood bag and irreversibly highlighting any breaches above +10°C by changing colour of the indicator window. If the indicator window remains white even after 30 minutes, the blood may be safely reissued potentially saving significant blood losses.

Activated with no pre-conditioning required by simply pressing the blister button, Blood Temp 10 will immediately begin monitoring the bag core temperature, providing instant and accurate information for front line users. Securely applied using an adhesive backing, Blood Temp 10 consistently safeguards against any unnecessary breaches, removing the need to manually take time or temperature readings.
