Non-invasive Drug Testing - Ideal for Use Where Laboratory Confirmation is Required

Oct 31 2007

The new non-invasive Draeger DrugTube, Draeger Safety UK is designed to collect, store and safely transport oral fluid samples for laboratory analysis. Ideal for use in the confirmation of a positive screening result, it is also suitable for drug testing applications in the workplace, medical or even school environments where an immediate preliminary result is not required or desirable.

In circumstances where time constraints are not an issue, the DrugTube can be used to take a quick, easy and hygienic sample that is both pain and stress free. The sample can then be sent for a standard laboratory analysis which will reliably detect the smallest amounts of illegal drugs (cocaine, opiates, amphetamines, metamphetamines, phencyclidine and cannabinoids, or other drugs that can be analysed for by the laboratory).

It can also be used in conjunction with the Draeger DrugCheck Test Kit which provides an immediate, visual result and is ideal for use in probable cause and/or random workplace testing applications as well as pre-employment screening, post incident investigations and when testing contractors and/or agency staff prior to site entry. Should the test show a positive result, a sample can then be retaken with the DrugTube kit and sent for laboratory confirmation.

The minimally invasive sampling process and the easy of use of the kit also means that there is no additional stress for the test subject and the risk of infection for everyone concerned is considerably reduced.

Individually and hygienically packed, the oral fluid collection sampler is placed into the mouth before being inserted into a collection tube fitted with an extraction device. Clipped into place automatically to ensure drip-free disposal, this device squeezes out the sample.

The sampler can then be removed from the tube together with the extraction device and the tube can be sealed and transported to the laboratory.
