Telstar Launches New and Improved Version of the Proven Pedigree ‘Lyobeta’ Series Freeze Dryer

Dec 03 2013

International company Azbil Telstar has recently announced the launch of a new version of the Pilot-scale Freeze Dryer, Lyobeta. Telstar is one of the major manufacturers of freeze drying equipment in the world, covering both ranges: production and laboratory equipment. Lyobeta is the ideal link between the two ranges; offering the flexibility and small foot print of a laboratory unit, but the performance, options and accessories and scale up capabilities required in an authentic pilot unit. Lyobeta bridges the gap in the market that in the past was filled with large-size laboratory equipment. Telstar expects to double sales for this range of product over the next three years and to broaden its customer base.

The new Lyobeta has already been made available to the market, but will have official launch presentation during the next Analytica exhibition in Munich, April 2014. Taking advantage of this exhibition several training sessions and presentations will be organized for customers and distributors.

New Lyobeta is proudly replacing its former version, which has been very successful in the market since 2002.

In addition to the renowned features of previous Lyobeta, the new series is offering the following improvements:

  • More user-friendly interface: wider 6,5” colour touch screen LCD;
  • Improved PLC control and programming capabilities;
  • More extensive range of interfaces to external devices, such as USB, PC, for monitoring and archiving;
  • Improved SCADA-based management software;
  • New options, such as control of the process by means of weight variation of the product, wireless product temperature measurement; and
  • Simplified installation procedure.

The Lyobeta is produced in batches as a series product but designed with numerous options to configure the product to customer requirements. This method of production provides a very competitive price for a unit with such a broad range of features.

The Lyobeta is available in four models, with 0.45, 0.6, 0.75 and 0.9 m2 of useful shelf surface area that can be temperature regulated in the range -55ºC to +80ºC. A cascade refrigeration system utilising ecological refrigerants cools the shelves and feeds a -85ºC condenser.
