Memmert CO2 incubators INCOmed

Perfectly controlled atmosphere for cell culture and in vitro fertilisation
Hardly any field of medicine moves us like reproductive medicine does. In the sterile and highly sophisticated environment of an IVF laboratory, new life is created, making it a matter of course that the quality requirements to be met there are extremely strict, in order to protect the sensitive ova, sperm and zygotes as best as possible.
The Memmert CO2 incubator INCOmed classified as medical device
For cell cultivation and especially for in vitro fertilisation, the precision and reliability of the CO2 incubator are of crucial importance, as the slightest deviation in the CO2 atmosphere, temperature or humidity content during cultivation can already affect cell development. For this reason, Memmert has subjected its CO2 incubators INCOmed to a comprehensive evaluation process for their recognition as medical devices. The classification as class IIa medical device confirms that all Memmert CO2 incubators INCOmed comply with the basic safety requirements of the European Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC.
Homogeneity in the chamber and short recovery times
Heating the working chamber from all six sides along with the electronic humidity control system and turbulence-free ventilation is decisive for temperature and humidity distribution. An aluminium thermal conduction layer supports homogeneity in the chamber and serves as a heat accumulator if there is a temporary power failure. To achieve an increase in usable volume, optimum hygiene and short recovery times after opening the door, an optional active humidification system with an adjustment range of 40% to 97% rh can be integrated, introducing sterile hot steam into the air stream.
Advantage: Sterilisation programme
The interior chamber including all installations and sensors can be sterilised at +160°C in a 4-hour programme.
Memmert INCOmed with IVF module especially for in vitro fertilisation
In close cooperation with IVF specialists Memmert has developed an IVF module for its CO2 incubator INCOmed which fulfils all crucial conditions for embryo culture, especially controlled CO2 and O2 concentration as well as constant and high humidity. The Petri dishes are cultivated in separate slide-in units. Low air exchange with the outside ensures fast recovery times for the CO2 content and humidity because as long as one slide-in unit is open, no other unit can be pulled out.

Safety matters most of all
In common CO2 incubators and in special IVF incubators, vaporisation and condensation are a major problem. The Memmert IVF module is used in a Memmert CO2 incubator INCOmed. This ensures that the CO2 content, O2 content and humidity in the chamber interior can be controlled with absolute precision. The active humidification and dehumidification in particular keeps vaporisation to a minimum so that cultivation under oil is not required in addition.
