Smarter ULT storage with superior temperature control

Stirling Ultracold has introduced the VAULT100™, a cutting-edge upright ultra-low temperature (ULT) freezer engineered for superior temperature uniformity, energy efficiency, and predictive diagnostics. Designed to meet the evolving needs of modern laboratories, the VAULT100 is the first ULT freezer to feature an extended temperature range of -100°C to -20°C, providing researchers with unmatched flexibility in sample storage.

At its core, the VAULT100 integrates Stirling’s advanced M6D free-piston engine technology, delivering tighter temperature control with a uniformity of ±3°C at -80°C. The improved design ensures market-leading setpoint stability, making it an ideal choice for high-performance biorepositories, clinical research facilities, and GMP-compliant storage. By maintaining interior temperatures below -70°C for up to two minutes after door openings, the VAULT100 protects sensitive samples from temperature fluctuations while allowing more convenient access.

The freezer replaces the SU780XLE model while retaining the same compact footprint and high storage density. It is powered by Stirling’s latest M6D free-piston engine, which improves system reliability and reduces power consumption. The new design enhances efficiency, requiring only 5.8 kWh/day in steady-state operation, earning it ENERGY STAR® certification.

The VAULT100 also introduces a 10-inch touchscreen interface with built-in predictive analytics, comparable to a vehicle’s dashboard alerts. This system continuously monitors multiple engine sensors, providing proactive maintenance recommendations and real-time performance insights. With smarter diagnostics, users can optimise uptime, prevent unexpected failures, and ensure long-term reliability.

“We’re excited to introduce a ULT freezer that not only pushes the boundaries of temperature performance but also integrates smart diagnostics for enhanced reliability,” said Clayton Newman, CEO of Stirling Ultracold. “The VAULT100’s advanced analytics and improved engine efficiency set a new benchmark for ultra-low temperature storage, safeguarding sample integrity while optimising operational costs.”
