Competition Winner Announced.

Dec 09 2009

In association with Gilden Photonics and International Labmate, the organisers of Photonex09 recently ran a free prize draw to win a Canon EOS Camera.

The winner of this year’s competition is - Dave Fraser of Festo, featured in the picture receiving his prize from John Gilchrist of Gilden Photonics. Dave was extremely delighted at his win and commented that he “had never won anything before!”

The intention of the competition was to draw attention to the Photonex exhibition and conference which is all about components, sensors, instruments and measurement solutions. It is a great place for laboratory and field scientists to learn about scientific cameras, lasers for illumination, optomechanics, metrology, spectroscopy, microscopy, light sources and novel sensing techniques, to name just a few of the subjects covered. Gilden Photonics, who offers innovative optical spectroscopy instrumentation, is a regular exhibitor at Photonex. The company finds Photonex an important event in their schedule and a useful opportunity to meet existing and potential customers. “Our involvement in Photonex has been thoroughly fulfilling. We have come away from the event with quality enquiries about our products and a heightened awareness of our company, both through meeting visitors on our stand and through advance publicity" said Dr John Gilchrist, Gilden’s managing director. Photonex organiser Laurence Devereux comments “Exhibitions have a very specific role to bring people together to learn about the latest technologies and to meet experts for face-to-face discussions. In my view good ‘buyers’ will have researched subjects online and read about techniques in magazines, and then consolidate their ideas at exhibitions and other networking type events. Exhibitions are hugely time efficient as you can have a large number of meetings and discussions - all in a matter of a few hours. I know I am biased, but I am a great advocate of exhibitions and the benefits they offer.” He continues “In the absence of a comprehensive general ’laboratory techniques’ exhibition, specialist and focused exhibitions like Photonex are the places to go”.
