Customised Linear Guides - A Cost-Effective, Versatile Prototyping Solution
Aug 27 2012
Reliance Precision Mechatronics announces a new customisation capability for its range of miniature linear guides. For designers working on prototyping projects Reliance now holds stock lengths of guides which can be quickly cut to length to suit individual requirements, offering a cost-effective, short lead-time solution for low volumes.
Innovation in miniaturisation of products has led to a need for linear motion solutions that offer high speed without compromising rigidity, torsional resistance or life. The Reliance miniature guides operate by two rows of circulating ball bearings mating with a 45 degree Gothic style profile. This gives multi-direction equalisation of force, which enables high velocity motion with low friction. Miniature operating environments dictate minimal clearance settings, and an optional pre-loading of the bearings can be requested in conditions that demand additional stiffness and precision. Further options include variations in carriage sealing systems, lubrication and reinforcement.
Reliance’s aim is to supply standard components that can be integrated seamlessly into existing mechanisms and its range of miniature linear guides follow that philosophy, providing a 'drop in replacement ' product so customers can continue production with minimal down time.
The miniature linear guides offer excellent price and performance; all guides are inspected and tested for quality assurance. The new cut-to-length capability means that customers can order small quantities and samples for product trials and prototyping.
