Much Anticipated Innovative Assembly Machine Put to Use

Cutting edge design and technology have always played a key role in Owen Mumford’s enviable success and the arrival of an innovative new assembly machine in June is a fine example of this.

Tailor-made to Owen Mumford’s exact specifications, the new automatic machine designed for Unistik 3, the company’s award-winning blood sampling product, combines two major functions; assembling the product’s individual components and then packing and sealing it. Until now, Owen Mumford has employed two different machines to complete these stages but the new assembly machine links both processes together, ensuring even greater efficiency.

The original concept came from the engineering team at Owen Mumford, led by Mike Bridgman, General Manager of the Lancet Production division and after five years of planning and development with designers in France, Owen Mumford is thrilled to welcome the new machine to its site in Oxfordshire.

Mike Bridgman, said: “This will make a significant difference to volume and efficiency with an overall increase of 30% in the production of Unistik 3 units. Since I began working for Owen Mumford, over 11 years ago, our figures have increased seven-fold with hundreds of millions of Unistik devices now manufactured every year.”
