Opportunities for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19
Jun 15 2020
Recent research, (Kampf, G. et al., 2020), published in the Journal of Hospital Infection, determined the human coronavirus survival times on surfaces, and revealed worrying levels of persistence. For example, the virus was still found to be active on latex gloves after 8 hours; after 4 days on paper; after 5 days on metal, and after 9 days on plastic.
As a disinfectant manufacturer, Adrian Gee-Turner believes that this highlights the importance of understanding the challenge of creating a ‘COVID-secure workplace’ and has therefore written an article which describes the seven strains of Coronavirus known to affect humans (including MERS, SARS and 2019-nCoV) and explains the key issues that should be addressed in the development of a disinfection strategy.
