Trust your titration results with Titripur® volumetric solutions certified according to ISO 17025

Oct 06 2020

Rely on consistently good results in your laboratory using Titripur® certified volumetric solutions together with Certipur® volumetric standard certified reference materials (CRMs). Laboratories that either work in regulated environments, or are ISO/IEC 17025 accredited, are better prepared for audits. ISO/IEC 17025 is a recognized international accreditation for laboratories and is accepted worldwide through the International Laboratory Accreditation Organisation (ILAC), and every country has its own accreditation bodies that are members of the ILAC.

Titripur® volumetric solutions are now certified according to ISO/IEC 17025. The Quality Control Laboratory at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany is accredited by the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle- German Accreditation Service (DAkkS) as a calibration laboratory (registration no. D-K-15185-01-00) for the “amount-of-substance concentrations in volumetric solutions” according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, which is one of the highest standards for laboratories.

As early as 1994, Merck KGaA Darmstadt Germany received its first accreditation, ISO/IEC 17025, for pH buffers. Over the past 25 years, the company has acquired more accreditations for their analytical products, procedures, and laboratories. We continually extend our variety of accreditations to support our customers in their daily analytical processes. Most analytical standards following ISO 17034 and ISO/IEC 17025 are classified as CRMs. Our volumetric solutions are certified according to ISO/IEC 17025.

Traceability & Uncertainty

With ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation as a testing and calibration laboratory, traceability to a national standard is completely ensured. For Titripur® volumetric solutions, we trace back to a primary National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standard. Deviations from the standard in every stage are documented in the test chain, and further sources of errors (e.g. repeatability or reproducibility) are documented and included in the expanded measurement uncertainty. The expanded measurement uncertainty for the amount of substance concentration can be found in the Certificate of Analysis (Figure 1) and as well in the DAkkS Accreditation certificate annex (See the annex at SigmaAldrich.com/ISO17025), as well the specification range which is accepted by our ISO/IEC 17025 requirements. A large number of tests with validated procedures ensures both calibration according to ISO/IEC 17025 and traceability.

Benefits of using volumetric solutions certified according to ISO/IEC 17025 and volumetric CRMs certified according to ISO 17034 in the titration laboratory include:

  • Confidence in analytical results
  • Documentation available for audits
  • Adherence to the quality management system
  • Consistent quality of reagents and standards
  • Increased confidence in testing, calibration data, and performance of personnel
  • Cost and time savings- no need for multiple tests
  • Trust in the quality control of your products
