MICROTRAC, A leader in particle characterisation
Jun 12 2024
MICROTRAC is your preferred partner for the comprehensive characterisation of particulate systems. The company provides theirr customers with advanced technologies to obtain consistently reliable results. Innovation and quality are at the core of everything they do.
Discover our 3 pillars of excellence:
Gas adsorption
Gas adsorption is a process in which gas molecules adhere to the surface of a solid or liquid material without becoming part of the solid or liquid. This phenomenon is based on the attraction between the gas molecules and the surface of the material, known as the adsorbent. Adsorption can occur due to various forces, including physical (physisorption) and chemical (chemisorption) interactions. The efficiency of adsorption is influenced by factors such as the surface area of the adsorbent, the pore size distribution, the temperature of the system, and the nature of the gas and the adsorbent.
Microtrac’s BELSORP and BELPORE analysers are highly advanced and efficient tools used for gas adsorption measurement. They are designed to determine the BET surface area and pore size distribution of both porous and non-porous powder materials. These analysers employ cutting-edge gas adsorption technology and are widely used in R&D and QC.
The BEL instruments are must-haves on laboratory benches for multiple industries: batteries, catalysts, ceramics, carbon, metal oxides, toners, cement, pharmaceuticals, pigments, cosmetics, and many more.
Particle Size & shape
Particle size and shape are critical physical attributes that define the characteristics of solid and sometimes liquid particles in various materials and formulations. These attributes can significantly influence the behaviour, performance, and application of materials in numerous fields, including pharmaceuticals, materials science, food technology, and environmental engineering.
The Microtrac Particle Size & Shape analysers use cutting-edge technologies to provide customers with the most accurate and reliable results.
Dynamic Image Analysis (DIA) is used to determine size distributions and shape parameters quickly with excellent accuracy and reproducibility. The CAMSIZER system has been pushing technological innovations for over 20 years.
In 2024, Microtrac celebrates 50 years of Laser Diffraction as a global leader with the SYNC range. Laser Diffraction is the most robust method to determine particle size distribution, with a wide measurement range, versatility, high sample throughput, accuracy, and reproducibility.
Stability & dispersibility
The stability and dispersibility of formulations are key parameters to evaluate their evolution, quality, and evolution over time.
The Microtrac portfolio offers a wide range of technologies to measure formulation stability and dispersibility, with Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Static Multiple Light Scattering (SMLS), and Zeta Potential (ZP).
DLS is a precise measurement technique for the characterisation of particle sizes in suspensions and emulsions. Microtrac is a pioneer in particle size analysis technology and has been developing optical systems based on DLS for over 30 years.
Joining the Microtrac portfolio in 2024, the TURBISCAN range, powered by SMLS, offers the world-leading technology for the physical stability evaluation of liquid dispersions and formulations.
The ZP product family consists of analysers that provide information on particle size, zeta potential, concentration, and molecular weight in a single system with the NANOTRAC FLEX and STABINO ZETA.
