Safe Low Temperature Sample Storage

Oct 30 2007

Micronic BV has expanded its range of screw top tubes purpose designed to provide laboratories with high integrity storage of samples in vapour phase liquid nitrogen and freezers below -80° C.

Now available in 3 standard sizes - 0.5ml, 1.1ml and 1.4ml there is an optimised screw top tube to suit most low temperature sample storage applications. To optimise use of valuable freezer storage space - 96 individual tubes can be stored in a Micronic Lobo Rack or Robo Rack.

The internal V-shape of the 0.5ml screw top tube ensures the lowest possible dead volume and maximum recovery of scarce samples. The 1.1ml screw top tube is fully compatible with the popular Micronic 1.4ml rack. This allows existing 1.4 ml rack users to switch from industry-standard 1 ml tubes to the new high integrity screw top tubes with no new investment. Fully compatible with the automation-friendly Robo Rack - the 1.4ml screw top tube provides a nett storage volume of 1 ml.

Incorporating a novel 'single turn' capping mechanism - accessing and securing samples within Micronic screw top tubes is a simple and rapid process. To prevent tubes from rotating during capping and decapping each screw top tube includes a novel anti-twist feature. A unique 2-dimensional code on the bottom of each tube provides an easy and unambiguous means of storing and identifying samples. Available in a choice of 6 different colour screw caps - Micronic screw top tubes also enable quick visual determination of sample origin.

Unique tube coding, compatibility with SBS/ANSI compliant tube racks and Micronic code reader's facilitates easy integration of screw top tubes into automated high-throughput screening environments. Manufactured in a modern class 7 clean room production facility - Micronic screw top tubes are certified RNase / DNase free and non-toxic, according to the USP class VI test, making them the ideal secure medium for storage of liquid or solid biological samples.
