SmartChemicals - Ensure Full Titration Data Integrity with a Quick Scan

Jan 28 2019

In 2016, 80% of the FDA warning letters were issued due to lack of data integrity. The main reason was incomplete data. Storing results alone is not enough - each result set should ideally contain all relevant meta data. Titration chemicals present just such a case: complete source data should be captured as part of best practice workflows. Yet manual data transcription consumes time and creates opportunities for errors. The right automated solutions can prevent later data integrity and compliance questions.

New SmartChemicals titration chemicals and reagents automatically transfer their identifying data to the titrator. Data-loaded RFID Smart Tags embedded in reagent bottle labels communicate wirelessly with a dedicated SmartReader attachment on select Mettler Toledo titrators. A quick contactless scan of reagent bottles instantly and securely registers all relevant titration chemicals data: reagent name, lot/batch number, concentration, and shelf life/expiration.

SmartChemicals equipped titrators are compatible with a broad range of commercially available titration chemicals including volumetric solutions and corresponding volumetric standards - also those meeting European and United States pharmacopoeia quality standards - and Karl Fischer reagents and solvents.

When connected to LabX® PC software, SmartChemicals support best practice data integrity workflows in compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 across pharmaceutical, chemical, specialty chemical, food & beverage, cosmetic, and related industries.

The easily integrated SmartChemicals system demonstrates a best practice data integrity solution for information transfer from titrant to titrator. Titration results are always complemented with error-free source information - ensuring full data traceability with an electronic audit trail.
