After Cracking the Crick Liebherr Laboratory Refrigeration Range Forges Ahead
Jun 01 2017
Through one of its key distribution partners Liebherr supplied over 200 Mediline laboratory freezers to the Francis Crick Institute. This particular model is the Liebherr Mediline LGUEX1500 under-bench spark free (ATEX Certified) -20 freezer.
In 2016 the Francis Crick Institute moved into a brand new building in central London bringing together 1500 scientists and support staff working collaboratively across disciplines, making it the biggest biomedical research facility under a single roof in Europe. Given that the Francis Crick Institute is a biomedical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease it is vital that it has very reliable and secure freezers to enable it to undertake its research effectively and safely.
The Liebherr Mediline spark free models being used by the FCI are designed in compliance with ATEX guidelines to highest safety standards. This means that used correctly the appliance ensures a secure working environment for storage of potentially volatile substances, keeping the people working in laboratories safe.
Liebherr's innovative refrigeration technologies and a series of smart functions guarantee optimum storage conditions and temperature consistency. All appliances are designed to keep running costs down, and to keep the amount of work involved in their operation and maintenance as low as possible, without compromising maximum safety. In addition, all systems comply with the relevant industry standards and statutory safety regulations.
The temperature can be set to 0.1ºC accuracy and temperature fluctuations are visible in real time. On board data logging and door and temperature alarms ensure safe storage of high value product.
Forced air cooling in the Mediline fridge range (including the ATEX certified spark free models) and the heavy duty freezer range, ensures temperature stability and rapid pull down after door openings. Solid storage drawers in the static freezer range optimises temperature stability and reduces ice build-up and also allows for lower running costs. Outstanding energy efficiency ensures the operating costs are kept low. High net capacities allow for optimum storage space.
