Laboratory Press Supplied to Fenner Dunlop

Jul 20 2015

Fenner Dunlop, one of the world's largest manufacturers of conveyor belting has purchased a LabEcon 300 Laboratory Press manufactured by Fontijne Presses and supplied in the UK by Intelicare Ltd, who also provide cooling equipment for laboratory presses and other industry processes.

Fenner Dunlop, a leading manufacturer of heavyweight belting for mining and industrial applications, have installed the press at the Centre of Excellence facility at Hull. The facility is staffed by experts in application engineering, polymer chemistry and textile technology, all of which provides the ability to model the most complex applications to ensure optimum belt selection.

Fontijne Presses have been manufacturing Hydraulic Laboratory Platen Presses for use in the polymer processing, rubber, and composites industry for more than 80 years. The presses are utilised for sample preparation and small production processes for quality control, research and materials development.

The LabEcon 300 is a 2-column pillar press comprising 320 x 320 mm electrically heated platens to 300°C and includes a touch screen control panel.

The press also includes: Automatic Venting cycle providing the opportunity to vent by opening the press for a preset period; Low Pressure valve providing press force adjustment between 20-300 kN.

Fenner Dunlop are extremely pleased with the press so far as demonstrated by Steve Wymark, Technical Manager, who said: “We purchased the LabEcon 300 to make PVC and rubber sheet for evaluation of new and modified formulations and are delighted with the results. The choice of press was based on the reputation of Fontijne Presses and the build quality of the LabEcon 300 on which the platen design guarantees an accurate temperature distribution over the platen surface and has fast closing and accurate press force on the sample product”
