New PARTICA LA-960 from HORIBA delivers the fastest, most accurate laser diffraction analysis

Apr 02 2014

HORIBA Scientific proudly announces the latest evolution of laser diffraction particle size analysers in today’s market, the LA-960. Long recognised for the strong submicron range measurement capability with the LA series, this new model includes all the advancements from previous models and uses a new algorithm, to meet the expectations of the customers who demand the highest accuracy and resolution for their application.

It quickly measures dry particles from 10nm to 5000 mm with the most innovative optical system ever designed, and up to 3,000 m for wet method. The performance is guaranteed with the accuracy of +0.6% and is ISO13320 compliant.

Main features

Dry dispersion

  • Vertical venturi system dispersion
  • Unique cell for both pressure and Free fall analysis
  • Contamination-free,  Abrasion-free.

Wet dispersion

  • 'Conic' sample bath design
  • Small and large particle size performances
  • Full organic solvant compatibilities
  • Low to large volume options (5ml-1l).

Intuitive and powerful software

  • e-learning tools for method development
  • Automated refractive index selection
  • Automated programs for intensive QC analysis.

Main Applications

  • Pharmaceuticals: Quality control on excipients and mixing properties with API for therapeutic efficiency
  • Cosmetics: Research on pigment size to optimise appearance and texture
  • Food: Research on emulsions to improve taste, stability and process manufacturing
  • Cement: Milling process control
  • Ceramics: Size of incoming raw materials and slurries to optimise material density and porosity.

HORIBA once again raises the global standard for a new generation of researchers and quality control experts.
