Milling and Sizing Specialists
Jul 18 2010
Fritsch Milling and Sizing, the specialist for sample processing and particle size analysis, was founded in 1920 as a supplier of semi precious stones for technical applications.
One of its selling lines was agate mortars and pestles, which were used to produce fine powders on the laboratory scale chemists for experimental and analytical purposes. After World War II, Fritsch started to produce a range of laboratory instruments, which determined the company’s future development. By the mid 1950s, Fritsch instruments had become a specialist supplier of laboratory instruments used in the processing laboratory.
In 1961, the world’s first Fritsch patented Laboratory Planetary Mill, with cantilevered grinding bowls was launched on the market. In 1996 this was followed by the first Planetary Mono Mill with only one working station.
Since then, Fritsch Planetary Mills have become the standard in industry and research laboratories worldwide. Now Fritsch is redefining the Planetary Mill – with the Fritsch premium line. Previously unachieved rotation speeds are now possible, yielding ultra-fine grinding results down to the nano range.
For over 25 years, Fritsch has remained one step ahead in the area of laser particle sizing. In 1985 Fritsch revolutionised measurement precision by introducing the concept of laser diffraction in a convergent laser beam with the patented Fritsch measuring process.
This process has now become the international standard for easy, fast and reliable particle size analysis and benefit from the practical experience and technical superiority achieved in a quarter century of work in laser particle sizing.
Despite having over 70 employees it retains the characteristics of a family business. Its infrastructure reaches all parts of the world through successful agents since over 75 % of its production is exported. Fritsch make an important contribu¬tion to the economy for the Idar-Oberstein region.
