Achema 2009 Reveals Worldwide Confidence

With stable visitor and exhibitor figures and unprecedented internationality, Achema 2009, the world chemical engineering summit, demonstrated a confident focus on the future.

By the time the doors closed after five days of the 29th Achema, over 173,000 visitors from all over the world had passed through the vast exhibition halls in Frankfurt. The latest products and technologies from 3,767 companies and research institutes in the chemical engineering, biotechnology, food technology, environmental protection and related sectors were on display, leading over 85% of visitors to evaluate the quality of Achema positively.

The Achema Congress, comprising 900 lectures, as well as panel discussions and plenary sessions, attracted scientists and developers keen to hear about and discuss the latest market-ready research results.

Exhibitors unanimously praised the high standard of discussions and contacts, and with over one-third of visitors being executives and other decision-makers, the prospects for development of new co-operations are excellent. According to Paul Carter, Delegate for DECHEMA for UK and Ireland: “With over 200 exhibitors, the UK and Ireland group at Achema 2009 was the third largest, after Germany and Italy.

The feedback we have received from our exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive, citing many sales leads generated and significant new industry co-operations discussed. The majority of exhibitors responding to our request for feedback plan to return for Achema 2012 – a resounding endorsement of this year’s event.
