Introducing Cantel’s Customisable Range of Laminar Flow Cabinets
Apr 11 2017
Searching for laminar flow cabinets? Cantel Medical UK offers a range of solutions. With 3 types of laminar flow cabinets, bespoke design and installation options and bonus add-on features, Cantel have the flexibility to solve almost any challenge. And with over 20 years’ experience designing and manufacturing clean air products, customers can expect products that perform to the highest standards.
How do Cantel’s laminar flow cabinets work?
From cosmetics and electronics to pharmaceuticals and medicine – clean air is necessary for research in a number of industries. Laminar flow cabinets use a constant, uninterrupted airflow to sweep away contaminants and provide users with a clean, secure space for research.
Laminar flow cabinets work by drawing in air from the surrounding environment. This air is filtered in through one or multiple high-efficiency particular air (HEPA) filters. The three types of laminar flow cabinet – Vertical, Horizontal and Reverse Horizontal – reflect the direction of the airflow once it has been drawn in.
They’re ideal – and in fact necessary – for many areas of research. Take, for instance, an electronic device which is programmed to react to certain air particles. It requires a clean air environment to avoid interference when working on the device. With a constant stream of clean air, the equipment is also ideal for removing harmful chemicals as they are emitted in research.
Why Cantel?
In all kinds of research, accuracy is key. Which is why, for anybody working in a controlled environment, contamination and interference must be nullified. Every Cantel laminar flow cabinet comes with the following levels of certification, making them ideal for the vast majority of research:
- Meets BSEN 14644 (1999) for clean conditions
- Rated better than EU GMP Grade B (2008) – excluding reverse cabinets
- Optional upgrade to above EU GMP Grade A (2008) on most products
These performance standards reflect Cantel’s excellent reputation within the industry. Cantel’s products are designed with impeccable customer focus, with a range of features such as:
- An acrylic screen hinged across the entire width, giving easy access to the whole working area
- Large diameter fans which can be set to variable speeds, allowing users to adjust the air flow to suit specific requirements
- HEPA filters – rated to 99.997% efficiency
- Easy to change pre-filters, making it simple and straightforward to maintain the clean air environment
- Cabinets operate at less than 55 decibels – meaning less disruption
What’s more, every Cantel laminar flow cabinet is manufactured from Zintec Mild Steel and coated in epoxy powder to prevent corrosion. Fluorescent internal lighting provides maximum visibility for every operation, while toughened end panels and the 316 Stainless Steel work surface provide a strong, clinical environment for high-standard research.
The 5-year limited parts and labour warranty also delivers the comprehensive service and maintenance required to maximise precision and accuracy.
Building a bespoke system
Vertical, horizontal and reverse horizontal cabinets are each available in four standard sizes, ranging from 1000mm to 1800mm. However, bespoke options are available too, catering for the most specific requirements. Research requiring a clean air environment is vast and wide-ranging, which is why Cantel offer a custom fit approach to laminar flow cabinets.
Air flow cabinets needn’t be free standing. They can be integrated or even overhead. The VLF6, for example, offers a compact and flexible alternative to larger vertical flow cabinets. Cantel can also incorporate side walls or Mylar curtains into the design to better contain the enclosure. As well as bespoke installation, machines come with a range of optional extras. Just a few examples include electrical outlets, access ports, vacuum and gas connections/taps and custom work surface materials.
