Techne Prime thermal cycler – New Combi-block
Jul 17 2013
Techne has introduced a new Combi-block for its new Prime PCR Thermal Cycler range, providing instrument users with additional flexibility. The new Combi-Block is able to accommodate 33 x 0.2 ml or 33 x 0.5 ml volume PCR tubes. The use of different sized wells means a Universal selection of consumables can be accommodated in the same instrument.
In addition, the user may select an optional 25°C temperature gradient spread across 11 columns. The Combi-block extends the Techne range, which now provides thermal cyclers to suit all requirements, applications and budgets. The ‘3Prime’ is aimed at low-throughput users and Higher Education with up to 48 sample wells. The full size ‘Prime’ is aimed at general molecular biology laboratories with up to 384 sample wells. The flagship ‘Prime Elite’ is designed for high-throughput users and core facilities where faster speed of operation is required and up to 3 Satellite units can be connected for up to 1536 sample capacity. All Techne Prime instruments are supported by Techne’s market leading 4 year warranty.
There is very little else available in the market to rival the flexibility offered by Prime Combi-Block thermal cyclers. They feature the flexibility to use any 0.2ml and 0.5ml PCR tubes with no modification required to hardware or programs. Temperature gradient capability for primer annealing experiments is available as standard on 5PRIMEG/C models or as an optional upgrade on 5PRIME/C base models. The Prime Combi-Block maintains the same ramp rate and temperature uniformity as the standard thermal blocks.
