New Portable Density Meter Simplifies On-site Density Measurement

May 08 2019

The splash-proof portable density meter DMA 35 from Anton Paar only needs 2 mL of sample for measurements and delivers results within seconds. It also comes in intrinsically safe ATEX-certified versions perfect for measurements in hazardous locations.

DMA 35 employs the oscillating U-tube principle and is exceptionally efficient and simple to use: it requires only 2 mL of sample, filled with the built-in hand pump, to conduct the fastest measurements in less than a minute, including filling and cleaning. Packaged in a rugged housing with a hard-glass front, DMA 35 is built to withstand the knocks and spills of outdoor use. The cartridge containing the measuring cell can be simply replaced should the instrument suffer from a cell rupture by mischance (patented solution).

Great sample variety

The instrument measures samples ranging from fermenting beer and wine to petroleum samples and acids. It shows the result as density or concentration in units such as °Brix, %v/v alcohol, or %w/w H2SO4 or product-specific parameters such as °API for petroleum products. Results are automatically compensated for the temperature influence, so no further calculations are necessary and potential user errors are eliminated. DMA 35 even covers many different concentration units and product-specific parameters. Each unit covers the entire measuring range relevant for your application and therefore is the perfect replacement for all glass hydrometers in your workplace.

Full traceability – for comprehensive data control

Sample containers are identified before the measurement with the help of the integrated RFID interface. This minimises costs and valuable working time and ensures that all measured data is allocated to the correct sampling location. The Bluetooth® interface allows operators to send the stored results to a computer or printer wirelessly for perfect documentation of results.

ATEX-certified versions for hazardous locations

The two intrinsically safe product versions (ATEX marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4) for the chemical and petroleum industries are a must-have if the samples to be measured are flammable or measurements are carried out in explosive atmospheres. They are the only safe options on the market for measurements in hazardous locations. DMA 35 Ex is particularly suitable for measuring flammable chemicals, whereas the special housing of DMA 35 Ex Petrol makes it ideal for the petroleum industry. It fully complies with the IP 559 and ASTM D7777 standards.

The new DMA 35 series from the market leader in digital density measurement saves valuable time and delivers the values required at the push of a button. For more information please click here or buy your DMA 35 on the Anton Paar webshop.
