ISO 17034-Certified Reference Material from the Market Leader of Digital Density Measurement

Anton Paar, maker of the world’s most accurate digital density meter, has set up an independent, ISO 17034-accredited production site for reference materials – letting customers attain density results that are traceable to the International System of Units (SI), globally comparable, and true. Density meters must be calibrated on a regular basis, as they may be exposed to conditions influencing the quality of results. The better the certified reference material, the better the measurements.

The lowest-possible measuring uncertainty

Using one of the new standards, measured by hydrostatic weighing, means measurements are referenced to the primary method of density measurement. No other reference method comes close – the accuracy of values is on the same level as for values attained by national metrology institutes. Anton Paar ISO 17034-certified reference materials are specified down to 0.015kg/m3.

How ISO 17034 outperforms ISO 17025

ISO 17034 requirements always include those of ISO 17025: So Anton Paar’s certified reference materials conform with both ISO standards. An ISO 17034 certificate guarantees the correctness of reference values throughout the density standard’s lifetime – not just on the day of production. Anton Paar monitors this correctness every three months. Values can be retrieved from the online certificate anytime.

Application-specific density standards, available at a click via webshop

Anton Paar will initially offer density standards in the range from 0.75 kg/m3 to 1.25 kg/m3. Safety and intuitive handling are key: “We want to encourage our customers to calibrate their instruments themselves during the year,” says Barbara Laky, head of the ISO calibration and CRM lab. “That’s why we’re offering non-toxic material that is easy to fill and measure.”

Safety-glass ampoule: Zero contamination

As the typical plastic closures of other density standards are prone to exchange with ambience – in some cases one can even smell the liquid from the ampoule – Anton Paar relies on sealed safety-glass caps. Composition variation and quality loss are excluded, ensuring that the content exactly corresponds to the values specified on the certificate. The ampoule cap has a shatterproof breaking point and is openable at a simple finger-press click. There’s no easier way to keep the accuracy of density measurements as sky-high as on the very first day.

The standards are available at a click in the Anton Paar webshop.
