Automate Your PCR

Oct 08 2018

The role of automation in industrial applications, diagnostics, and molecular biology research is increasing. For automated PCR and precise tempering tasks, Analytik Jena offers the Biometra TRobot automated thermal cycler. With its 96- and 384-well block formats, this cycler has established itself in the robotic systems of various manufacturers worldwide. In addition to PCR, it is commonly integrated into systems for the automated production of NGS libraries. The Biometra TRobot is also suitable for the heat treatment of cells during the automated high-throughput transformation of bacterial cells. Transformation efficiency can be greatly increased by means of targeted heat shock treatment.

A newly introduced possibility is the automatic incubation of 1536 microplates in the Biometra TRobot. This opens up new application fields, for example, in pharmaceutical screening and synthetic biology.

The Biometra TRobot’s superior reliability, essential for its integration in large-scale facilities, is impressive overall. Outstanding block homogeneity guarantees reproducible results, even in high-throughput. The patented plate lift ensures that the plates are detached safely from the sample block after incubation and that they can be accurately removed by the robot’s gripper. Due to the cycler’s very small footprint, there is room for several thermal cyclers on many robot platforms.
