How to Keep Your Fume Cupboard Safe
Aug 08 2019
Maintaining the safety of your fume cupboard is vital to ensure both a safe and efficient working environment. Absolute Carbon Filters are regularly asked questions on how to keep a healthy fume cupboard and when to call for expert assistance.
There are two main elements to ensuring a safe fume cupboard: making sure your Carbon Filters are working efficiently and regular servicing from a professional engineer.
There are three main ways to test if a carbon filter needs changing: A Carbon Breakthrough test; Indicator or Sniffer test; airflow testing.
While there is no set life cycle for Carbon Filters, it is recommended they are replaced every 2 years.
There are four main reasons to call for expert assistance, all with the same level of importance: the fume should be serviced by an engineer every 12 months; the smell of chemicals in the laboratory is a definite indicator that something is wrong and an engineer should be called; an alarm is sounding, indicating a warning that should be addressed by an engineer; any obvious physical fault.
Absolute Carbon Filters’ service partner, Crowthorne Group, will be happy to discuss any queries you have regarding the operation of your fume cupboard.
