New Metrohm Brochure ‘Battery Research’
Oct 01 2010
Metrohm has published a new brochure on instrumentation and applications for the electrochemical characterisation of batteries.
The brochure is free of charge and can be ordered from your local Metrohm distributor.
The total power output of a battery is determined by the properties of the electrolytes used and of the anode and cathode materials.
Electrochemical instrumentation and methods available from Metrohm and Metrohm Autolab are recommended for, e.g.:
• determining current/voltage characteristics
• test for polarity reversal (charging) of batteries
• characterising aging effects using impedance spectroscopy
• recording discharge and charge cycles
• determining battery capacity
• measuring the electrolyte resistance and charge transfer resistance (electrode reaction)
• determining pulse power rating/high-current capability State-of-the-art ion chromatography using Metrohm’s 850 Professional IC instruments, on the other hand, is a highly efficient way to determine:
• fluoride, hexafluorophosphate, tetrafluoroborate and lithium in eluates of particular components such as anodes, cathodes and separator foils
• fluoride, hexafluorophosphate and lithium in electrolyte liquids
