Online mercury and arsenic monitoring wastewater and produced water

The presence of mercury (Hg) and arsenic (As) in petrochemical waste streams is under increasing scrutiny and, in most parts of the world, discharge regulations require monitoring and reporting protocols to ensure company compliance in line with environmental guidelines.

Analytically, the determination of ultra-low concentrations of these 2 elements is not easily achieved. Instruments based on electrochemical detection often suffer from sample fouling problems and other interferences. In addition, the traditional flow-through systems consume relatively large volumes of reagents, especially when operated on a 24/7 basis.

With these issues in mind P S Analytical has developed and released a new on-line analyser (10.226). The system uses much lower volumes of reagents whilst still having unprecedented analytical performance based upon our world leading atomic fluorescence detection systems.

The new analyser’s performance parameters include: total quantity of reagents per measurement (<5 ml per sample), gas saver options, automatic calibration, wide linear working ranges, up to 10 sample streams, grab sample features, 20 minutes per sample and sub ppm limits of detection.

PSA have analysers to suit all aspects of the monitoring and analysis of Hg, including laboratory instruments and on-line analysers for gases and liquids.

Employing Atomic Fluorescence Spectroscopy as the means of detection the PSA analysers provide ultimate detection performance. With literally thousands of systems in the field today, and support networks in Europe, USA and SE Asia, PSA offers the ideal package of performance, reliability and support.
