Speakers: Neal Fox, Sandra Lorenz

This eLearning session is for anyone analyzing residual solvents or interested in quantitative GC-Headspace analyses.

GC-Headspace is a powerful technique for the analysis of volatile compounds in neat samples or in a variety of matrices. A major use of GC-Headspace is the analysis of pharmaceutical drugs, as well as intermediates and excipients for the presence of residual solvents that may be left over from the manufacturing process. The sample that is analyzed by this technique may be a solid, a solid dissolved in a solvent, a liquid, or a matrix such as soil for environmental analysis. During this webinar, we will review the method development that was done to apply this technique to solvents, particularly higher boiling solvents that are ideal for GC Headspace.

Learning objectives

By attending this webinar you will learn:

  • How GC-Headspace works along with some tips and tricks for test method optimization
  • Criteria to determine if GC-Headspace is a good technique for a given analysis
  • Applications where GC-Headspace is ideal
  • The residual solvents technique used in analysis of pharmaceuticals (final drug, intermediate, excipients)
  • Honeywell brands and products that are tested and certified for use in GC-Headspace applications

You will have an opportunity to ask Sandra and Neal any questions about GC-Headspace, or find out a little more about Honeywell Research Chemicals – a large producer of solvents and reagents under the Riedel-de Haën™, Burdick & Jackson™, and Fluka™ brands.
