Maglev turbomolecular pumps for industry and research

Edwards Vacuum has introduced a new series of magnetically levitated turbomolecular pumps designed to meet the demands of both challenging industrial environments and advanced research applications. The oil-free nEXT2807M and nEXT3207M Maglev pumps provide contamination-free vacuum performance, ensuring high process quality. With a virtually maintenance-free operation of up to 80,000 hours, these models are among the lightest and most compact turbopumps in their class.

Built to deliver consistent performance in harsh industrial conditions, the nEXT M series is ideal for a wide range of applications across R&D and industrial markets. These include coating applications, vacuum ovens, thermal vacuum chambers for space simulations, and high-energy physics research.

“In practical use, the nEXT M pumps offer numerous advantages,” explained Jinane Haddad, Product Manager at Edwards Vacuum. “In addition to their low-vibration operation - critical for many applications - these pumps deliver hydrocarbon-free performance, exceptional durability, and efficient water cooling. This extends maintenance intervals and enhances overall pumping capacity.”

Process reliability directly impacts productivity and profitability, making consistent performance essential. “The design and functional features of the nEXT M series contribute significantly to this,” said Haddad. Featuring a bespoke rotor design, the nEXT M pumps achieve excellent pumping speeds - up to 3,200 l/s for the nEXT3207M and up to 2,500 l/s for the nEXT2807M (for nitrogen). Reduced rotor weight also lowers power consumption, particularly during start-stop cycles.

For industrial and R&D applications requiring minimal vibration and hydrocarbon-free operation, the nEXT M series represents a cutting-edge solution. “With this innovative turbomolecular pump technology, we ensure that sensitive processes remain unaffected by external interference,” concluded Haddad.
