Apr 08 2014
OHAUS Corporation, a leading worldwide manufacturer of laboratory balances and industrial scales, recently announced the launch of its first-ever annual “Leading the Weigh” award programme. Designed to acknowledge laboratories for their impact on scientific growth and technological advancement, one laboratory will receive the award for their exceptional use of the core principles of STEM technology to foster scientific advancement.
Launched during PITTCON and concluding November 1, 2014 the contest will review applicants on criteria in four categories:
Originality: The efforts of the laboratory are unique in the respective industry or are taking a new approach to a traditional scientific practice.
Contribution to Advancement of STEM Disciplines: The current research, outputs and daily activities are using STEM disciplines to achieve set goals and objectives.
Impact: The laboratory's efforts are making an impact in their community or field. The impact has an immediate effect or is a long term catalyst for revolutionary contributions.
Use of Weighing Technology: An OHAUS balance or scale is being used to achieve your unique laboratory goals.
The competition winner will receive a new OHAUS balance or scale, an OHAUS Lab Startup Kit, and $2,000 towards the purchase of laboratory supplies, along with a personalised desktop award or wall plaque to be prominently displayed in their facility. Both the award winner and the winner’s laboratory will be featured throughout the year on various promotional documents, advertisements and the Ohaus.com website. Finally, the award winner will also be asked to participate in the selection of the following year’s winner.
