41st International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography & 14th GCxGC Symposium
Feb 20 2017
Back by popular demand, the 41st International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography (ISCC) and the 14th GCxGC Symposium will return to Fort Worth, Texas in 2017 - the 'Gateway to the West'. After successful 2015 conferences, ISCC & GCxGC will again be held at the historic Hilton Fort Worth from May 14 – 19, 2017.
The U.S. counterpart to the highly acclaimed biannual Riva del Garda (Italy) conferences, ISCC & GCxGC are the premier symposia for pressure and electrodriven microcolumn separations, comprehensive multidimensional chromatography and related techniques. These two meetings provides a rich forum for fundamentals and applications of widely used analytical technologies. Attendees can have discussions with world-renowned researchers and share their research through oral and poster presentations. Strong technical programs will be supplemented by short courses, vendor seminars, fun social programs and an exhibition by leading manufacturers presenting innovative new software and hardware solutions.
Short courses begin on Sunday, May 14th and include GCxGC (full-day course by John Dimandja and Phillip Marriot), sample preparation (half-day course by Nick Snow and Harold McNair), basic HPLC (half-day course by Lee Polite, Axion Labs) and ionic liquids (half-day course by Len Sidisky and Dan Armstrong).
The invited speaker list is befitting of world class international symposia. Plenary speakers include Prof. Richard Zare from Stanford University (California), Dr. Pat Sandra (Research Institute for Chromatography) and Dr. Richard D. Smith (Director of Proteome Research at Pacific Northwest National Laboratories - Washington). A complete list of invited speakers can be found on the website, but include Jared Anderson, Carlo Bicchi, Sandy Dasgupta, Gert Desmet, Norman Dovichi, Ziad El Rassi, Shaorong Liu, Mike Ramsey, Dwight Stoll, Mary Wirth and Adam Woolley. A range of fundamentals and state-of-the-art applications of liquid and gas phase capillary-scale separation technologies and associated detection techniques, will be covered. Other program highlights include a young scientists session, a large poster session with prize and traditional award ceremonies and lectures for the Perkin Elmer-sponsored Marcel Golay & Leslie Ettre Awards.
Microcolumn and multidimensional analytical techniques enable work in many different areas. Of note, the symposia intends to place a significant focus on comprehensive two-dimensional liquid chromatography (LCxLC) and its development as a growing field of interest. While in Texas, special sessions will emphasise analytical sciences related to energy, petroleum and resource development, as well as exceptional coverage of environmental, food science, pharmaceutical, bioanalytical and petrochemical research.
The conference will continue the tradition of excellent social events including a Texas Rangers game (Major League Baseball), a local rodeo and a roof-top banquet on Wednesday, May 17th with live music, cowboy cuisine and an open bar. Downtown Ft. Worth includes Sundance Square, a newly renovated walkable venue with a variety of nightlife and dining options minutes from world-class museums and performance halls. We hope to see you in Texas in May – to share in these meetings and to enjoy a rich scientific and vibrant social program with the hospitality of the 'Gateway to the West'.
