Emerging Trends, Fundamentals and HPLC 2019 Innovation Covered in Milan
Feb 13 2019
The 48th International Symposium on High Performance Liquid Phase Separations and Related Techniques (HPLC 2019, will be held from 16 - 20 June 2019 in Milan at the Milano-Bicocca University. This is the first time that this Symposium has been held in Italy.
The HPLC symposium series is the largest, most recognised, international forum on High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and related techniques. It is the ideal location where industrial and academic researchers in this area can exchange information with other colleagues coming from all over the world. Both fundamental and practical aspects of Separation Science will be covered during the days of the Conference, with the main focus on new, highly-relevant trends emerging in this field, cutting-edge applications and innovation in technology.
Among the many topics at HPLC 2019, particular emphasis will be given to hyphenated techniques, most importantly liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS), design and characterisation of stationary phases, micro- and nano-fluidics, supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC), capillary electrophoresis (CE) and their applications in proteomics, metabolomics, food analysis, characterisation of biopharmaceuticals and biosimilars. HPLC 2019 will also feature some unique highlights, such as a session entirely dedicated to HPLC for process analytical technology (PAT) and quality assessment in preparative chromatography and one focusing on HP-TLC. The complete list of topics can be found on the website.
Thanks to its multidisciplinary character, the Symposium represents an important source for analytical chemists, biochemists and engineers seeking practical solutions to their problems. Researchers will be presenting their work as lectures in topical scientific sessions or in exciting poster sessions. The organisers strongly encourage the active participation of younger scientists to the symposium. To this purpose a great effort has been done to guarantee low student fees, including some special packages designed to give the opportunity to students to attend short courses taught by highly reputed experts. 14 short courses on different topics are offered and details can be found online.
A series of awards will be presented during the Conference, including the Csaba Horváth young scientist award, the best poster award, the Uwe Neue award, etc. In addition to the traditional ones, we are working on new exciting ideas to recognise the scientific activity of our young colleagues, which will be announced soon on the website and our social media.
Besides a rich scientific program, an exciting social program awaits participants, starting from the opening ceremony in the exclusive location of the 'Giuseppe Verdi' Conservatorio di Milano, the largest music academy in Italy and one of the most important worldwide. Therein, a unique event merging music and science will celebrate the genius of Leonardo da Vinci on the 500th anniversary of his death.
As a cosmopolitan and vibrant Italian centre, where the various cultures of northern European and Mediterranean countries merge, Milan has a lot to offer: art museums, history, opera (La Scala), music, fashion, design, culinary delights, business opportunities and a lot of fun.
It also offers a wide range of accommodations for all types of budgets and it is easily reachable by plane (through 3 international airports), car, train. Milano can be considered an ideal hub to visit Italy, thanks to the network of 'Alta-velocità' (high-speed) trains. Visit the conference webpage for practical information.
