2020 Planned Expansions Additional Capabilities for Devon Lab
Feb 17 2021
2020 was an exceptional year for Elemental Lab, even in the face of the unprecedented global business challenges of the year. Despite the pandemic, the staff at Elemental Lab was able to achieve three major goals for the year to better support analysis customers: re-certification of the lab, a re-launched website, and additional equipment for improved capabilities.
In the autumn of 2020, Elemental Lab was awarded ISO 17025 re-accreditation by UKAS for CHNOS Organic Elemental Analysis as well as Protein Analysis. Given the COVID-19 situation, the procedure was virtual and extended over several weeks with evidence supplied very differently as opposed to in person where the selection of evidence is based on a single day’s activities. In keeping with the lab’s history of producing high quality analysis results, the staff at Elemental Lab is proud to maintain their UKAS accreditation as well as to continue to be a trusted subcontractor for Merck® Millipore UK.
The Elemental Lab also relaunched their website in 2020 with simplified navigation and richer information. All the lab’s certification information is now directly accessible from the website. Additionally, after years of doing air sensitive analysis strictly by request and word of mouth, the relaunched website highlights information about the expertise Elemental Lab brings to this type of sensitive analysis.
Over the summer, Elemental Lab completed a planned lab expansion in their Devon facility. With this expansion, the Elemental Lab brought in additional analytical equipment to better serve customers. Elemental Lab now boasts three IRMS instruments in total, two calibrated for Carbon and Nitrogen analysis and another for Sulfur analysis. The new IRMS additions complement the lab instruments already on the premises which perform elemental microanalysis of Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Oxygen and Sulfur. New capabilities for Elemental Lab also include an IC for halogen analysis. The lab is now capable of Chlorine, Fluorine, Bromine, and Iodine analysis at both PPM and trace levels.
With these analytical equipment expansions and new capabilities in place, academic and industrial customers can continue to place their trust in Elemental Lab for reliable results on an even greater number of accredited and quality processes.
