What Would You Bury in the Moon? Here's 10 Ideas from Labmate
Dec 22 2014
British engineer and city financier David Iron is inviting individuals to purchase space on a number of “memory discs”, which are to be buried in a hole on the moon in approximately ten years. For less than £64, members of the public can get involved, helping to create a varied time capsule destined for space. The plan has been entitled “Lunar Mission One”.
So, without further ado, here are 10 things you might (or might not) wish to bury on the moon…
10. Pictures of cats (on skateboards)
Cats rule the internet, and the internet has become an enormous part of our lives. Why not become part of the cat propaganda machine and send a picture of your pet kitty into space?
9. An invite to earth
Perhaps aliens are like vampires – they aren’t showing up because they haven’t been invited. If you want to mix and mingle with a gaggle of extra-terrestrials, simply send them party invite and get the snacks in.
8. An historical lie
Perhaps you’d like to mislead future generations of space explorers searching for clues about what life on earth was really like. Well, make something up. You could become some sort of inter-galactic, surrealist Samuel Pepys.
7. A selfie
We’ve all taken one - some of have taken a few too many, so why not send one to the moon? (Make sure it’s one of your best though.)
6. Anepisode of The Clangers
Because it’s fun to imagine aliens laughing about how wrong us silly humans got it.
5. A list of people you don’t like
Someone annoying you at work? Send them to the moon.
4. A video of a baby being born
Even if all life on earth does end, there’ll always be a video of a baby being born somewhere.
3. A great poem
Whether it’s T. S. Eliot’s “The Wasteland” or Rudyard Kipling’s “If”, sometimes, great poets say it better than you ever could (even if you tried really hard).
2. A picture of the tallest building in the world
Man is preoccupied with scale and capable of amazing things. Why not send an image of something massive on an incredible journey?
1. The story of Paddington Bear
Paddington Bear is a seasoned traveller – and would probably quite like to see the moon.
