Chosen Microscope Supplier
May 09 2009
An extensive user of laboratory instruments, Haltermann Ltd has chosen Spectronic Analytical Instruments (Spectronic) to supply its laboratories with a Leica S6D Microscope. The microscope offers affordable and comprehensive documentation solutions for a range of fields, including manufacturing, quality inspection, small parts assembly, OEM integration, and research and development. Haltermann is a subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company. Its core business is custom processing and chemical recovery. This can include reactive distillation and batch, or continuous fractionation. Processes include esterification, hydrolysis, quatanisation and methylation. The product range includes esters, ethers and environmentally friendly solvents together with some custom produced products and recovered solvents.
Having such a diverse range of chemical activities, anticipating and controlling corrosion is vital. Potential new processes are modelled in the laboratory and corrosion examined. The S6D microscope provides the means of observing and measuring any surface pitting on steel samples, which are included in the new reaction process. Robert Glover from Haltermann, said: “Spectronic has a reputation for the supply and maintenance of an extensive range of scientific instruments. Our experiences with the company have been nothing but positive.“
“We are proud of our reputation gained over the past 36 years of trading, especially that of our support role, and guard it fiercely,” said Spectronic’s Mark Brereton. “Our customers come first and last with us. We have been appointed the sole UK distributors for a number of prodigious companies, which I think validates our knowledge and approach to customer service.”
