Versatile viscometry with one instrument series

Viscosity and density are essential properties for a wide range of materials, from petroleum-based products to specialty chemicals. The Anton Paar SVM series of viscometers offers a comprehensive solution for precise and efficient testing in your laboratory.

Our digital and automatic SVM viscometers fully comply with ASTM D7042 and ISO 23581 for viscosity measurements, and ASTM D4052 and ISO 12185 for density measurements, eliminating the need for outdated manual techniques. For enhanced chemical compatibility, specific SVM models can be upgraded with a chemical upgrade kit.

Anton Paar provides a variety of SVM models to meet diverse testing requirements, from the entry-level SVM 1X01 series - ideal for quick kinematic viscosity or density tests outside the QC or R&D lab - to the advanced SVM X001 series capable of precise measurements across a wide temperature range (-60°C to +135°C, down to -20°C without an external chiller) and viscosity range (0.2 mm²/s to 30,000 mm²/s). Specialised models are available for fast viscosity index (VI) determinations and additional capabilities like cloud-point, cloud-point heated, or freeze-point determinations. High-end variants can be integrated with an Abbemat refractometer for automatic carbon type composition analysis.

The SVM viscometers operate autonomously and can be equipped with an optional autosampler for up to 71 positions. The durable metal measuring cell eliminates the risk of broken glass capillaries, ensuring reliability and longevity while reducing consumable costs. The SVM series streamlines operations, offering a 150% increase in throughput compared to manual techniques, using only 1.5 mL of sample and solvent per measurement. The intuitive touchscreen interface simplifies control, eliminating the need for external PCs for sample handling or data storage.

Anton Paar’s SVM viscometer series provides the ultimate modern-day solution for viscosity and density testing that meets over 50 international standards. Upgrade your lab today and move beyond legacy test methods with the innovative SVM series.
