New Mycoplasma pneumoniae?Monoclonal Antibodies

Jan 27 2015

Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a parasitic pathogen of the human respiratory tract. This bacteria lacks a cell wall and thus many antibiotics that inhibit cell wall synthesis are ineffective as treatment.

M. pneumoniae causes atypical pneumonia and effects children and young adults most commonly. The organism adheres to respiratory epithelial cells via several adhesins. The P1 adhesin is a major virulence factor of this organism.

ViroStat has released a new set of monoclonal antibodies to the P1 adhesin of M. pneumoniae. These new antibodies function well in IFA staining and as ELISA pairs for the detection of the P1 antigen.

These antibodies join the existing collection of ViroStat M. pneumoniae antibody reagents.
