Uniform and Precise Cooling of Cellular Samples

The FTS Bio-Cool® from SP Industries, Inc delivers uniform and precise cooling of cellular samples at a controlled rate to as low as -80°C.

The mechanically refrigerated Bio-Cool™ provides a reliable, safe and quiet alternative to controlled-rate freezers that utilise liquid nitrogen as the refrigerant. Unlike liquid nitrogen systems that surround samples with a
cold vapour phase, the Bio-Cool immerses samples into a well-circulated, cold liquid bath. The circulating liquid allows more efficient heat transfer to the samples and maintains a more consistent temperature profile at all locations.

With its small footprint, low operating costs and high reliability, the Bio-Cool is an excellent choice for applications including the freezing of murine, bovine or human embryos as well as the cryopreservation of embryonic stem cells.

The Bio-Cool has an easy-to-use programmable microprocessor controller with the ability to program and store up to eight different protocols, each with up to eight distinct segments specifying ramp rate, hold temperature, and hold time. The Bio-Cool 80 model is a registered medical device and is available with data collection capability. Elimination of liquid nitrogen handling and usage, better freezing results, simple straightforward operation, and SP Industries worldclass service support all make the Bio-Cool the controlled rate freezer of choice for most clinical, commercial, and research applications.
