Rapid Protein Electrophoresis and Analysis
Sep 28 2009
At the recent BioProcess International (BPI) congress in Dusseldorf, Lab901 unveiled its new ScreenTape P200 product for rapid SDS-PAGE and analysis. Generating results in only one minute per sample, the P200
protein system extends the use of Lab901’s existing bench-top TapeStation® instrument, which has already started to make a global impact in the DNA market for PCR diagnostics. Used with the TapeStation, ScreenTape P200 combines gel loading, electrophoresis, imaging and analysis. Results include a gel image, electropherogram, molecular weight determination and % purity - all generated in 60 seconds per sample. There is no need to prime chips, stain/de-stain gels, image gels or annotate gel images when using the ScreenTape System. ScreenTape can run just a few samples, leaving unusedlanes available for future experiments and reducing the waste commonly encountered with chip-based systems and pre-cast gels.
“We are very excited about the launch of ScreenTape for protein analysis,” commented Richard Rowling, Lab901’s Sales & Marketing Director. “The combination of convenience and speed means that scientists can now move more rapidly between steps in their expression / purification workflows, saving time and money.”
“The response from scientists expressing and purifying recombinant proteins or MAb’s has been tremendous at the BPI meeting,” said Dr Ken Macnamara, Lab901’s Head of Science. “There is a real appetite for speed and automation in the BioPharma industry. Our poster, describing rapid At-line monitoring of MAb production, was very well received,” he added.
