Exploration Day Lifts Off

Feb 27 2013

HORIBA Medical have announced that its product focus group meeting held at the National Space Centre in Leicester has proved extremely popular with attendees, who included Biomedical Scientists, Laboratory Managers, University lecturers and Point of Care Managers. The day consisted of various events including group discussions, user presentations and new product and service introductions.

Attendees gained early insight to some forthcoming new services from Horiba Medical. Previews included the new Quality Control Programme (QCP) and Quality Slide Programme (QSP), which will enable users to assess, improve and maintain laboratory performance. QCP is an online programme that provides real-time results in three different areas: Internal quality control; Inter-laboratory control comparison and External quality assessment. QSP provides a highly efficient means of standardising the blood slide review process. It also reduces variability between reviewers and has the ability of confirming staff qualification for blood cell identification. There was also an update on HeLP, the rapidly expanding web-based e-learning programme

David Ingram and Stacey Robson from Queens Medical Centre Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, presented the results of their own evaluation of Horiba Medical’s newest point of care analyser the Microsemi CRP.

Proving very successful were the interactive workshops held in the afternoon. The demonstration of Horiba Medical’s HemaCam digital morphology system generated a great deal of interest and discussions as did the newly launched Pentra DX Nexus high throughput haematology analyser, which was available for close inspection. Horiba Medical’s range of point of care haematology analysers were presented in a dedicated workshop. A fourth workshop highlighted data management and connectivity for remote monitoring of analysers. This was demonstrated in real time using Horiba Medical’s Pentra 400 clinical chemistry analyser. There was also an opportunity to see the LAQUA range of hand-held testing equipment from the Process and Environmental segment, part of Horiba’s initiative of cross-segment development.

“It is uncertain times in the world of pathology testing we believe it is essential to maintain strong lines of communication and interaction with our customers. This ensures that we are able to provide them with the right products and right services for their evolving needs,” said Cleve Wright, General Manager, Horiba Medical UK.
