Solutions Ease the Transition from Stainless to Disposable Systems

Colder Products Co. featured disposable innovations at Biotechnica 2005. Colder demonstrated its Steam-Thru Connections, which serve the dual function of valve and connector. The Steam-Thru Connection's disposable design saves time and money by eliminating unnecessary cleaning procedures and reducing validation issues associated with reusable components. Colder is also featuring its SaniQuik connection, a quick and easy link between existing processing equipment and disposable tube sets, manifolds, and bag systems.

At the Innovations Forum, Colder's Bioprocessing Business Unit Manager, John Boehm, provided insights on how to integrate disposables with stainless steel processing equipment.

Colder's Steam-Thru Connection allows a one-step steam-through process that creates a sterile connection between stainless and disposables and eliminates the need for a laminar flow hood. The innovative three-port design eliminates "dead legs" and reduces the chance for contamination. Steam-Thru Connection is ideal for use in feeding, cell harvesting, and sampling applications.

SaniQuik connections provide cost-effective media transfer solutions by attaching directly to hard-plumbed systems. Once attached to processing equipment, the connection's integral coupling adaptor provides the interface to disposable systems that incorporate Colder's MPC and MPX couplings.
