Customised Weighing Systems

CI Electronics has recently delivered a bespoke weight-sorting system to a customer in North America, demonstrating the company's ability to develop customised weighing and sorting systems, supplying equipment to handle virtually any product weighing up to five grams.

For the American order CI's custom system is used to checkweigh and sort machined parts, as uniformity of weight is crucial for the correct operation of the assembled mechanism.

Other typical products processed by CI's custom systems range from pharmaceutical implants and stick packs to sachets and electronic components.

Where appropriate, systems can be equipped with printers to automatically generate written reports, or communications links to enable data to be stored or analysed remotely. In every case, the system's speed of operation, accuracy, materials of construction, alarm outputs, and other characteristics are built to meet the customer's specification, plus any appropriate industry, national or international standards.

A system recently supplied is one that checks electrical fuses. The type in question is filled with sand and the correct volume of sand is vital to ensure the safety of the fuse and also the safety of the circuit being protected. CI designed and built a system that checks every fuse and rejects those for which the weight is found to be less than the 2.3g minimum. This system has delivered the accuracy and 24-hour reliability necessary to meet the customer's requirements.
