Why Wait for Sample Prep! Shortest Time-to-Result through TXRF

Bruker AXS Microanalysis has published a new application report highlighting cost-effective elemental analysis using their S2 PICOFOX TXRF spectrometer.

The accurate chemical analysis of any sample requires a time-consuming procedure with a number of steps depending on the type of sample. Each step raises costs for materials and labour, increases the risk of analytical errors and contaminations and requires operator training and instrument maintenance.

The new application report visualises the easy procedures required for the preparation of different sample types prior to the elemental analysis by Total reflection X-Ray Fluorescence (TXRF) spectrometry. The preparation procedures for the most common sample types are described here in detail. A variety of samples can be applied directly or after a simple dilution step. Solid samples can be quantitatively analyzed after grinding and resuspending. Time-consuming digestion with hazardous chemicals can be avoided.
The report highlights the short time-to-result achieved by the TXRF method and compares it with other methods like AAS and ICP. In addition, TXRF reduces the expenses for consumables dramatically and media like cooling water, liquid nitrogen, gases etc. are not required for operation.

The report can be downloaded for free from Bruker’s document area. It carries the number XRF 435 and the title “Sample preparation”. Prints can be ordered free of charge by sending an email to info-ma@bruker-axs.de
