Grip Mitt Gives a Nod to Fashion
Jan 11 2010
Solutions in test tubes aren’t the only things changing colour in labs these days. Hot Hand® Protector, a no-slip grip mitt from Bel-Art Products is now available in two new vibrant colours; lime green and sky blue. Used for
handling objects such as beakers, flasks, and bottles at extreme hot or cold temperatures the Hot Hand® Protector was originally introduced in red, a colour that will continue to be offered. While one might not think of their lab tools as fashion accessories, Bel-Art Product Manager Robert N. Petersen said: "Colour preferences are very individual. It’s great when we can take a practical item like a heat protective mitt and infuse it with some fashion sensibility. The bright colors also make it easy to spot in the lab."
The Hot Hand® Protector is one size, 10cmW x 19cmH (3 7/8"W x 7 ½"H) with a ’quick fit’ pocket at each end - one for the thumb and one for the other fingers. Concaved tipped studs on the surface provide a secure grip. Made of silicone rubber, the Hot Hand® Protector can withstand temperatures as high as 260°C (500°F) and remains flexible at temperatures as low as -57°C (-70°F) which as Petersen added: "Makes it ideal for common lab needs like removing items from an autoclave or handling dry ice."
Manufacturer’s suggested price for the Hot Hand® Protector in lime green or sky blue is $21.25.
