Secure Plate Sealing with Easy Sample Access
Oct 14 2016
Aluminium foil plate seals are an ideal solution for securely sealing samples within plate wells, whilst they can be readily pierced with automated or manually-operated pipette tips for easy sample access as required.
Enabling individual well access, eliminates the potential for aerosols and cross-contamination that can result when removing other types of plate-sealing lids.
AlumaSeal foil seals, from Alpha Laboratories, exhibit extreme temperature tolerance, protecting samples down to -80ºC and up to 120ºC. They provide excellent barrier properties with virtually no sample evaporation or drying. Certified DNase-, RNase-, and nucleic-acid-free they ensure no sample contamination or assay interference.
AlumaSeal 96™ is sized to fit inside the rim of raised-rim PCR plates. It has a partial width end-tab for easy removal. AlumaSeal 384™ can be used with any 384 or 96 well plate that doesn’t have a raised edge and it has a single full width end-tab. They consist of 38 μm thick aluminium foil with 38 μm layer of acrylic adhesive
AlumaSeal II™ is a 36 μm soft non-permeable aluminium foil sealing film with a 28μm layer of strong medical-grade acrylic adhesive. It is ideal for PCR and cold storage. Each sealing film measures 82.6 x 146.1mm and offers sufficient sealing area for all PCR plates. Compared to other aluminium foils, AlumaSeal II has less tendency to roll back on itself when removing the backing paper and conforms well to the plate during application. It eliminates the need for heat-sealing devices or mats.
