Streamlining Next-Generation Sequencing Studies
Nov 30 2009
Agilent Technologies, Inc has introduced the SureSelect DNA Capture Array, which easily removes a major bottleneck in small-scale DNA studies by letting scientists sequence only genomic areas of interest with next-generation sequencing (NGS) instruments. Designed for smaller studies, the SureSelect DNA Capture Arrays complement Agilent’s in-solution SureSelect Target Enrichment System, which is designed for medium to large-scale NGS studies of tens through thousands of samples, including automated high-throughput workflows.
“If a lab is doing next-generation sequencing, Agilent offers a portfolio of products that make those experiments run faster, better and/or less expensively,” said Fred Ernani, PhD, Agilent emerging genomics Applications Product Manager. “SureSelect DNA Capture Array is well suited for the researcher who needs a cost-effective target enrichment tool for a small number of samples.” In addition to the SureSelect on-array and in-solution target enrichment products, Agilent also offers a new High Sensitivity DNA Kit for quality control on the 2100 Bioanalyser, robotics for NGS workflows and reagents for long-range polymerase chain reaction experiments.
The Agilent SureSelect DNA Capture Array is based on work done in collaboration with the Gregory Hannon lab at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories. Probes were designed through eArray, Agilent’s Web-based design application, and high-fidelity microarrays were then custom synthesised using the company’s SurePrint fabrication platform. SureSelect DNA Capture Arrays are easily customised and can be purchased individually, making the start-up cost of target enrichment experiments low for those researchers that want to perform this application.
