The Anoxomat anaerobic environment system is the economical alternative

Apr 02 2014

The Advanced Anoxomat is an automatic, micro-processor controlled system for the cultivation of anaerobic, microaerophilic, hypoxic and capnophilic bacteria. The Anoxomat system is developed to reliably sustain environments for proper growth while maintaining low gas consumption. The resulting gas mixtures will always be within 0.5% of the required value. This high precision, combined with ensured reproducibility allows microbiologists to draw accurate, confident conclusions.

The Anoxomat is a jar system that offers an alternative method utilizing the evacuation-replacement method developed by MacIntosh and Fildes. The Anoxomat’s evacuation-replacement methodology rapidly removes an oxygenated environment from a jar and replaces it with a precise amount of an anaerobic gas mixture. After the anaerobic cycle, a mere 0.16% residual oxygen content is left in the jar, which is removed by a small palladium catalyst. By controlling this procedure with a microprocessor, the user can define the exact atmosphere required in the jar while only utilising the minimum amount of gas to accomplish this.

This system has many unique advantages over chambers and gas bags, saving laboratories time, effort and money. It can create standard or user defined recipe atmospheres, thus producing either microaerophilic or anaerobic organisms with the same system. Complete anaerobiasis can be reached in three minutes, faster than standard methods, for unmatched organism quality and recovery. The operator can count on the results since the Anoxomat's Quality Assurance system ensures that jar atmosphere is precisely as required and warns of any leakage. The Anoxomat system' small footprint reduces operating space by 65% and its ingenious technology saves laboratories 70% of money wasted on consumables.

The Anoxomat  can automatically record user and specimen information, date, time and the ending gas mixture in the jar, thus eliminating transcription errors with optional use of bar code scanner or printer.
