Maintaining Optimal Analytical Instrument Performance
Mar 10 2015
Whether you’re using a mass spectrometer, residual gas analyser or other analytical instrument, you know that results can be compromised without regular instrument maintenance and calibration. Regular maintenance typically includes replacing key components such as your electron or ion detectors. These detectors represent the enabling technology behind analytical ion or electron detection and are a critical component to quality results. Investing in high quality, long-life detectors will provide longer sustained output and fewer maintenance cycles for a lower cost of ownership.
In channel electron multipliers, Channeltron® from PHOTONIS is the recognised brand name for quality, longevity and innovation. Channeltrons® are still the driving technology behind many analytical instruments, including mass spectrometers, residual gas analysers, SIMS and Auger. Continuous product development has resulted in ion detectors with extended dynamic range detectors that support high pressure operation (10-2 Torr) and provide improved sensitivity. Channeltrons® can be ordered as detectors or as complete plug-and-play replacement assemblies for repair stock – even for obsolete analytical instruments.
For detector assemblies requiring microchannel plates, PHOTONIS provides the most advanced microchannel plate (MCP) innovations in the world. Our MCPs are offered in a variety of configurations and options, including 2-micron pore sizes for superior resolution, extended dynamic range, low noise, and an exclusive MountingPad™ technology that virtually eliminates cracking and warping. PHOTONIS MCPs can be ordered as component parts, or as part of an advanced performance detector assembly for plug-and-play replacement of many analytical instrument detectors. Custom sizes, shapes, enhancement coatings and configurations are also available.
Our superior MCP technology results in the world’s fastest Time-of-Flight detectors. PHOTONIS UltraFlat™ MCPs are incorporated into our TOF detectors to significantly reduce time jitter and increase mass resolution while providing nearly symmetrical pulse widths. We manufacture High-Mass, BiPolar, CoAxial, Off-Axis, miniature and standard TOF detectors in a wide variety of sizes and flange options designed to provide your TOF-MS with the highest mass resolution on the market.
Patented Resistive Glass technology can also simplify instrument design and improve performance. PHOTONIS’ Resistive Glass products are made with resistive properties that create electric fields that can preferentially guide or direct charged particles. They can be used for single-piece drift tubes, capillary inlet tubes, ion guides, reflectron lenses or collision cells to improve ion throughput and provide a more efficient sample transfer.
You rely on your instrument to provide high-quality results.
