Acquisition fuels growth for UK compressed air specialist

Hi-line Industries, a leading UK-based company specialising in energy-efficient compressed air purification equipment, is announcing its acquisition by the US multinational Ingersoll Rand. Despite the change in ownership, Hi-line assures its customers that they can expect the same high-quality products and services without any price increases. Steve Smith will remain as Managing Director, ensuring that the company continues to meet customer expectations, including next-day delivery.

The acquisition, which took effect on 1 July 2024, marks a significant milestone for Hi-line as it embarks on a new chapter of growth. Following a year of negotiations and thorough due diligence, Hi-line is now poised to reach new heights with the financial backing of Ingersoll Rand. This partnership will enable the Burton-upon-Trent-based company to expand rapidly and solidify its position as a leader in compressed air treatment solutions.

To commemorate this exciting development, Hi-line hosted a launch event in July at St George’s Park, the home of the Football Association’s national football centre. Drawing an analogy to football, Steve Smith likened the acquisition to a wealthy investor purchasing a football club, recognising its potential, and providing the necessary resources to achieve success.

One of the first benefits of Ingersoll Rand’s investment will be the integration of Industry 4.1 IoT capabilities into all Hi-line controllers by the end of 2024. Additionally, Ingersoll Rand companies will soon have access to Hi-line’s popular range of alternative filter elements and the innovative Hi-PLEX dual technology dryer skids, which combine fridge and desiccant drying on a single skid.

“Our commitment to exceptional customer service remains unwavering,” said Steve Smith. “Our dedicated team, led by Craig Watson and Oliver Loewenbach, will continue to provide top-notch support to our distributors. We are also planning to expand our ACRIB-registered service technician team through a new recruitment drive, further enhancing our support capabilities across our diverse product range.”

Hi-line’s offerings include a wide range of energy-efficient compressed air equipment, such as desiccant and refrigeration air dryers, nitrogen/oxygen separators, filtration equipment, and condensate systems. The company stands behind its products with a five-year warranty, reflecting its confidence in the quality of its workmanship and materials. Hi-line serves a variety of sectors, including food and beverage, medical, general manufacturing, automotive, breathing air, and laser cutting. The company is a proud member of the British Compressed Air Society and holds ISO 9001:2015 accreditation.
