New director to continue pursuit of improvement goals

Andy Charteris has joined cleanroom microbiology solutions company Cherwell Scientific as the new Director of Operations, succeeding Martyn Young who is retiring after a distinguished nine-year tenure.

Bringing a wealth of experience from his career at GKN Aerospace, including roles in manufacturing, operational and engineering capacities, Andy was most recently responsible for all aspects of strategic planning, labour and performance management to meet required targets.  His experience in lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement processes will be instrumental as Cherwell continues to enhance its operational capabilities to accelerate growth plans.

His experience and vision are seen as crucial for the company’s next phase of growth and development as part of the Analytichem Group.

Managing Director, Andrew Whittard, said “We are really excited to welcome Andy to the team as our new Director of Operations. Andy has a strong background in advanced operations from his previous role at GKN and amongst other things will help embed continuous improvement initiatives at Cherwell.”

Andy Charteris commented: "I am thrilled to contribute to Cherwell's ambitious growth plans and to propel the company forward. I'm eager to leverage my expertise in operational excellence to maintain the high levels of flexibility and responsiveness our customers rely on. I look forward to connecting with the team and embarking on a journey of continuous improvement together."

Retiring Director of Operations, Martyn Young, has played a pivotal role in the company's success and expansion over the years, through his expertise in quality management, production process engineering and general management.

“During his nine years at Cherwell as Operations Director, Martyn has been an invaluable member of the senior leadership team and Board at Cherwell. He has contributed massively to the success and growth of the business. I have greatly enjoyed our time as colleagues and would like to wish Martyn all the best for a happy retirement,” Andrew Whittard said.
